Change password in WordPress (in cPanel)

Modified on Tue, 1 Feb, 2022 at 3:17 PM

Kenny advising me on how to update passwords in WordPress via cPanel using SouthBeachBlyth and Chris Lord (now Harriet) of BBD as the demo subject.

In cPanel > List Accounts > select cP icon next to the account to open.

Databases > phpMyAdmin

Ignore the [name...xxx] _schema one and expand the + one (typically below)

Select [code...xxx]_users

Select 'Edit' under the appropriate user

Under 'user_pass', enter the password in the box on the far right side THEN select MD5 from the dropdown menu in the middle column. The MD5 step encrypts the password you have input into code.

User can be given the new password and can update username from there.

Select the 'Go' button from below to complete.
